Porn is a lie cast in a drama by actors.  The lie is that mankind is not broken by sin in all his faculties and relations.  An idealized ‘Eve’ is subjugated by an idealized ‘Adam’ in porn films.  Because men have a gender-specific curse, a ‘broken scepter’ inherited from Adam’s fall, our deeply wounded adequacy cries for power and potency.  Therefore, porn is the most ingenious trap ever invented to capture and bind the male temperament.  As a consequence, porn is not only a deadly habit, but also a symptom.  It is symptomatic of a masculine crisis.

What does it mean to find our story in God’s story?  That is our theme in part two of this series.  As we saw in session one, first of all we must know what God’s story is all about.  And, when the message of God’s story fills our consciousness, we will live differently.  But, in order for God’s Word to dominate exceptionally in our lives, it will require the very deliberate, intentional exercise of what Scripture refers to as the eyes of our heart (Eph 1:18).

Life has no meaning without a story about reality.  We cannot rise from our beds in the morning with any sense of purpose if life is only an absurd question mark with no explanation or meaning.  Questions such as: “Where did we come from?”  “Why are we here?”  “Who are we?” “How are we to live?”  “Where are we going?” “Why are there fires, floods, quakes, hurricanes?”  “Why is there evil, death and suffering?”  “What is human flourishing?”  These questions are all answered by a story.
